Medical Assisting: Administrative/Clinical
Proudly accredited by the Missouri Department of Higher Education, our Medical Assisting program is a doorway to a multi-faceted healthcare career. Throughout the course, students will:
Grasp the foundational concepts of healthcare practice, supplemented with in-depth discussions on medical law, ethics, and infection control.
Engage in a myriad of administrative tasks, from appointment scheduling and medical record maintenance to billing and insurance coding.
Delve into clinical responsibilities, including recording vitals, taking medical histories, drawing blood, and administering medications under a physician's direction.
Prepare for a variety of National Certifications, encompassing Administrative Assistant, Phlebotomy, EKG, and Clinical Medical Assisting.
Graduation Requirements:
To graduate, students are expected to meet the following criteria:
For Phlebotomy Students: Complete all classroom and laboratory hours, achieving minimum proficiencies. This includes supervised and documented 40 successful venipuncture draws. Every draw must be signed off by an instructor or clinical site coordinator.
For Medical Assisting Students: Complete all 120 contact hours for the phlebotomy program and 520 hours for the Medical Assisting Program.
Maintain a minimum grade of “C” in all modules.
Possess a current BLS (CPR) certification.
Any missed sessions must be compensated within 5 business days, including assignments, lab simulations, and externship hours.
